Default Project car/truck time

So, recently I have been on the hunt for a project.. to keep me from going insane. I have been looking at a few cars/trucks. Here is the problem, I have no idea what i want to build. I mean I know what I want, but it is way beyond my price range.

Here's what Ive been looking at getting..

85 Caprice classic- has a 305, solid body, mileage isnt too bad.. drives
70 Blazer- has a 327, 4spd, has 33's on it now, has rust..decent amount
55 caddy 60special-331 v8 solid car, came from the south
92 camaro z28 25th anniv- 350 auto needs some bodywork, and a fuel pump to run
56 gmc stepside 2wd- chevy400, manual, 12bolt rear, southern truck.. wouldnt take much to get it on the road.
79 gmc 2wd reg cab shortbed - been sitting awhile, 6cyl 3spd, bed is shot, good drivetrain and frame.

There are just too many vehicles i would love to have or build.. It makes it hard to decide..

If you could choose from these, what would you pick?

No question in my mind my first choice on your list would be the Caddillac.
They have style and class. You could go stock

You could go stock on the ground

Or you could go with a full custom

Well ya gotta decide on what you wanna do with it!!!

If you are wanting a trailer queen then by all means get a car and go to town, older rat rod types are the current craze.
Big hot rod daily Daily drivers can be sweet and fun but when you pull up to the gas pump you really know it,

4wd is great as long as you have a place to enjoy it, nothing worse than seeing sweet 4x4's sitting pretty on big tires etc and not a hill in 200 miles

so what it all boils down to is how many dollars you want to spend and what you are going to do with it, and dont forget there are plenty of idiot biotches on cell phones just waiting to smack there suv's right up against your sweet ride!!!!!!!!!! (Lost a sweet 70 chevelle ss and 10k this way)

70 4x4 would be my vote as I am currently wanting to go trail riding and my pro street back halfed 355 powered elcamino dont like rough terrain, nor does my 69 firebird convertable

Old stuff is cool, but it might be extremely difficult to get parts.

I'd go for the Camaro. Fast enough to be fun, modern enough that you would actually want to drive it (efi, ac, ps, etc).

Parts for the trucks he listed are very available and not real expensive.
The Caddi parts are out there we just finished a 54 caddi limo and parts were easy to find but for sure pricey.
Now on to the last part of your post.I have my Trailblazer SS and the wife has here Scion and if we go somewhere chances are we take the 66 chevy truck with no power steering,or brakes. Now it does have AC for the hot days of summer but I would rather drive old cars and trucks over the new stuff any day of the week. But thats just me.

Thats kinda what i had in mind.. Or I have a 9"ford rear out of my old racecar ( street stock regal). Change the front hubs to the Wilwood hubs we use and run "wide 5" wheels on all 4 corners.. with the bigblock..

So why do you have the new cars then?

Guess I've had my fill of no ps/ac, loud etc. street legal drag cars. And I'm old.

We have the new cars because I thought they would be better than the Street legal drag cars, jeeps and old trucks.
But after a little while i went right back to the old rides I just enjoy driving them more.
And as soon as the trailblazer is paid off it will be nothing but a toy.
Now if I am going to go over a hundred miles from the house I usually take one of the new cars or if the weather is crappy.I would rather one of the new ones take the abuse the weather can throw out.
