Default Hex driver set suggestions

I'll right I'm tired of the standard "L" hex wrenchs and I've decided to add a nice set of hex drivers to my tool box.

I spent some time surfing the web looked at Hudy, Trinity, Wiha, Dynamite, Ofna, Integy Is one any better than the others. Looking for comments on tools you like. And any other tools you have that you can't live without.

Unless you're going for the bling and convenience (and if you're somewhat handy with tools) why not make your own? I just took the spare allens that I needed, cut off the "L", drilled a hole in some hex alum. stock, and secured the bit in the handle with a set screw. I suppose that you could also use wood handles or whatever if you want.

Just a suggestion

I bought the Integy ones. They are great ti nitrate shafts and anidized T6 handles and they were pritty well priced. I have had mine for about 4 years now and hever had one strip out on anything.

WRM that's actually great idea. It's a budget way to take the cumbersome "L" type wrenchs and make a nice set of drivers. In my situation though, I need the "L" wrenchs for the bike habit, so I'd end up having to buy a new set of wrenchs to start with.

Skyjacker, are we being civil to eachother today? j/k

I found the Integy set of 6 for $25 bones at KTHobbies last night. It'd be tough to make your own for that price. I just wish they had 1.5mm to 3mm rather than stopping at 2.5mm. Do you find that you need a 3mm that much?

I like the set that OFNA has.

They have a black knurled handle. The handle itself is aluminum that's been bored out. Nice and light.

A nice advantage the sets like OFNA, Trinity, Hudy, and Integy sell is that the shafts are made from a much better grade of steel, like a drill blank.

The "L" shaped things are much softer and more prone to rounding both the tool and the screws.

Wiha's are awesome. Have a full set, metric and standard. Have yet to have ANY of them round or strip on me. They've also taken heads out that i thought were in for good when using the L-keys....

Spend the money. Get a good set, and never look back again.

I actually did just order a set of Wiha's. I hope I'm not unhappy with them. I ordered the set that has all of the bits and one handle. Found a killer deal on it. Wasn't what I was looking for, I was going to buy a set with handles on all of them. We'll see.

Never had experience with that set, BUT if it's anywhere NEAR as good as the indvidual drivers...you'll be happy. Just keep the tips well organized and clean.
