I find it easier to completely mock up the frame with tape, then take the tape off of the area you are about to braize, flux it, then braize away. I also found it to be easier if you preheat the braizing rod with the torch a bit first.

My joints also look like someone gave a monkey a torch, but on the simple boxes and shapes I've done, that seemed to be the easiest way.

Usually when I add beer and fire someone loses their hair, clothes, house, or a combination of the three

I couldn't believe how easy it was when I first tried it! I bought Mapp gas, flux, safety-silv, and some brake line to try it out. I tried a couple of joints and was amazed at how easy it was. Strong too! I tried to rip the joint apart, but it ripped the tubbing about 1/4 away from the joint instead!

Like I said, if you tape the whole thing together you should have the rright fit and finish. Just take the tape off at the area you need to braize.... a few moments and a little fire later... you have a complete joint!

Try Harbor Freight. They have this 90-deg. clamp-looking, well, clamp, that has adjustable angle-positions. It's all made of metal, well no wood or plastic, and it only cost me $4.
