Cnc?

So I know many of the guys that make frames use cnc's or mills. I was just wondering since I am wanting my neighbor to help me make a chassis on one of his cnc machines, which program should I use? I have autodesk inventor 7 and was wondering if that would work. I can't really get it to work out very well for me, I've only messed with it off and on for a while. I was also wondering if I gave someone my design, if they could make it to where I could put it on a disk readable file, and for me to be able to give it to my neighbor. Any help would be nice.
