Default Am I crazy for Asking This?

Dad just bought a new laptop and I will be getting his old one as a hand-me-down and just.thouht of something that I've never seen before. I have a HobbyTown brand Patriot charger that is basically the same thing as the Orion IQ and the BC6 chargers, would it be possible to make an adapter and charge the laptop battery with this charger?

But if you do attempt it please document and post the results.

I was thinking about doing something similar to this. I have 2 Toshiba satelite laptops that have the charging socket broken inside. It's a pain in the ass to take the laptop apart so externally charging them would allow me to use the again. I'm interested in seeing this attempt

Your "adapter" would likely need to be a transformer (step up or step down depending on the requirements of the laptop)...

I'm not willing to just try it without asking a few questions first...........espscially since it might be losing a cell. A couple years back, Dad put an upsized battery in it when the factory one gave up and this one has an extra charge port so it can be charged while not installed in the laptop.

After the wife and I going through a pair of cords each and my many, many times fixing them before replacement I finally just opened them up and soldered in a pigtail with some old lightspeed battery connectors from the early rc days. Zero problems since that fix.
