Default Billet Works' S-Trike Project... A Drift Trike on Steroids

So I've had an idea for a psychotic trike for the last couple of years, and finally a year ago began collecting parts and tools for the build. Well, the last two components, the custom frame neck I designed, and the rear axle bearing plates which I also designed, are being picked up today and I get to finally begin fabrication this weekend, if all goes according to plan.

First off, I wanted to start from scratch on this particular trike, borrowing nothing more than a 3 wheeled layout from anyone else. This prototype is being built around a Ninja 900 complete front end, a 42" wide 1-1/4" kart racing axle with 6x8.5 Douglas wheels wrapped in 11.5x9.5 Burris grooved tires. I am heading towards a front engine setup, due to personal preference and improved weight dist. The frame will work with a variety of mills, tho the plan is to install a heavily built 50 hp Briggs Intek 305 on alcohol. The top tube is going to be DOM 1.5" and the down tubes DOM 1".

Anyway, more info and pics soon to come but here's a start. I'll take some shop and fab pics as things move forward. I'm hoping this phase moves quickly since I've focused on being thorough in my parts collection prior to now.

That's a lot of motor for a drift trike. The trikes i've seen on youtube usually use a 125 pitbike engine. The biggest one i've seen had a 250cc engine on it and was barely able to use second gear.

Are you going to use pvc pipe over the back tires or just peel rubber?

My purpose goes far beyond slow motion drifting on PVC wrapped tires...tho I'm sure I'll slap some PVC on it at some point for grins. The psychotic nature of this build goes beyond the trike itself and into its intended type and level of uses

You gotta put fake pedals on the front axle.

It's nuts. I like it.

How high/low will the seat be?

Nuts is kinda what I'm shooting for

The seat will be low, but not all the way down to the lowest point of the top tube...since I'm planning on slingin dirt with this thing on the dirt road course we have on our property (gotta love country livin) as well as at the local banked dirt oval, it'll need a bit of seat suspension.

My girls decided it was time for pictures this morning. My 8 year old kart racer got she & her lil sis dressed up and showed up in the shop for a shoot. The lil one demands this is her motorcycle since her big sis already has a racing go kart and she doesn't
