| Electric Motor Question
Im trying to offer help on another non-RC related forum. So from my experience with motors (RC, corded/cordless power tools, etc.) they emit a blue spark when running that can often been seen. This is from the brushes contacting the com right. Now Ive never seen any other color than a blue looking spark on any RC or power tool motor and this guy is saying it is distinctively orange. So what gives? Is this a sign of something going bad or have others had the same experience? TIA, Jon |

The color depends on the temperature and brush compounds being ionized. Spark color isn't a good indicator unless you know what to normally expect from a very exact setup, load, speed, etc...

Thanks John. So depending on several things that could be normal. Well I guess that rules that out. | |
