My friend in highschool had one. I'm more of cats and dogs guy. never really liked animals that had to be fed other live animals. They get pretty big. Like 1.5 or 2 feet. They do some entertaining stuff once in a while but his mostly just sat on a heat rock and slept.

Yeah, I've had just about everything except beardies.

Chameleons, Frogs, Geckos, Crabs (the brackish water ones, salt, and 'freshwater'), Snakes, Scorpions, um... Yeah. The list goes on.

Just... Don't go nuts with it. I 'invested' about a grand into my Chameleons, and they didn't live very long anyway.

I AM planning on investing in some Red Eye Tree Frogs, though, in the future. Gorgeous, friendly, and all around awesome.

I used to breed them about 10 years ago. Handle it as much as possible. It will make for a friendlier dragon later on. What are you feeding it?

I had a leopard gecko for about 14yrs. Cool lizard. Never liked my dad though, haha. A bearded dragon would've been cool, too

I assume they just eat crickets?

They are super friendly they are eating about 24 crickets a day dam glad I have a pet store near

Don't house them in your bedroom. I killed crickets that dared to chirp while I was trying to sleep. Ended up filling in all holes of the driftwood home I had just so I could hunt them down quickly

Also, mealworms are good eatin' and bulk them up, but don't give them too many. They're like candy for lizards. I'd feed my leopard gecko a few every week

Yea they like meal worms an my daughter has the setup in her bed room dam could have bought a nice crawler for the money about 700 in the whole set up but my kids are worth ever penny

lol Yeah I did the crickets thing. Scorpion was horrible, she would stalk them, get bored, take a nap, stalk them, get bored, take a nap... And then like 5-6 days later, kill them and eat them. Was fun to watch, but man, she took her time hunting, that's for sure!

I,ve got a few that live in and around my yard ( there everywere over here )
Every now and then i see a blue tongue lizard that lives in my yard , he is my favourite
See heaps of lace monitors ( Goannas ) when i,m out on the dirt bike , luckily i don,t have any of them in the yard , coz i don,t like them bastards

Yea it's fun to watch them stalk those little crickets so far they are cool

Its actually quite easy to breed crickets if you have a space in the garage. Does you pet store sell crickets in bulk? I used to get 1000 for about $20. Not sure what pricing is now.

I was gonna try breeding crickets, but... I don't have a garage, and they stink, so they aren't going to stay in the house. Since it gets waaaay too hot here in the summer, and just slightly too cold in the winter, that kinda stopped that project. D:

12 cents a piece these days for a small cricket at my pet store bought 5 dozen last nite but the guy that got them out helped me out probably got 7 or 8 dozen lol

I used to have one. he pretty much sat on the heat rock all the time. Good fun to watch go after his prey. Ate good for about a year, then basically stopped eating. We switched to meal worms when he quit eating and they would be in the tank long enough to convert beetles. We had to put him down shortly there after. Very sad times.

Mealworms are not like candy at all, many top breeders feed them exclusively. They are lower on protein (coating them in a protein powered is what I did) and some lizards don't like their passiveness compared to a cricket jumping around.....but you can switch to them with no issues...I fed my geckos them for years with no problems. Do not confuse Meal Worms with Superworms either....they are safe to feed as well, just more expensive and many lizards don't like em.

Wax Worms are the candy to a lizard, they are very fatty and should only be given a couple of times a week at most....kinda like a treat.

I had a Crested Gecko that absolutely went NUTS for crickets. I bought Wax Worms for a treat, and she ignored them... A few of them actually hatched into moths. Holy crap, she was jumping ALL OVER the tank, she had a blast! Was awesome fun to watch, too.

I avoided Mealworms simply because most of my animals didn't have the capability to kill them quickly enough to ensure they didn't start eating the animal's stomach after they were ingested.

It was quite fun feeding live mice to snakes. There's a feeding to watch. Stalking! Squeezing! Eating without chewing!

Haven't tried meal worms yet but the lady at the pet store said to only feed them as a treat dam they love those crickets tho. I bought some other can food that has meal worms they seem to like those,have give them some kale an bell peppers they seem to like that too,kids take them out an hold them so far they seem to be a good addition

Urban Legend about mealworms eating their way out....simply doesn't happen.

The girl at the pet store is incorrect about Mealworms....Wax Worms are the treat, as they are very fatty....

Ron Tremper is among the biggest reptile breeders in the world, he feeds his geckos mealworms...

The other advantage of meal worms, you can keep them in a fridge and they go dormant....

There is tons of articles and such on the net about diet for lizards.

Gut loading whatever you are feeding them is a must....
