Default Scale builds

Im wanting my next build to be a scaler. But, I want something capable so I want a rock buggy. Where is the line drawn between comp rig and scale buggy? Is there a line? If I shove a little he-man inside does it suddenly become scale?

discuss

the smileys are off today, that was a lol smiley.

A He-man inside a comp buggy wouldn't be scale. He'd need a fire suit and helmet to be scale. Otherwise you just have a tuber with skeletor inside.

I think if you make it exactly to what a picture looks like of the buggy you want to make then it would be in my eyes considered scale. That would mean tire size compaired to tube work and axle placement with in the tubers demensions.

Ahh, but tubers are custom too! Of course the tires and WB would need to be on scale, but the tube work itself wouldnt have to be of an existing buggy to be scale would it?

IMO no. So long as it looks believable then I will cal a tuber scale, even if it is a comp rig. For example if you build a 1/10th tuber for TLT axles but the frame is only 1 inch wide I do not call that scale.

I like Jason's definition of scale.

If you have to look twice, it's scale!

You should have seen the Jeep crawl, you world have been impressed!

i dont think most of the " scale guys" really expect to out crawl a comp rig or care if they can that is why there scale trucks not comp trucks but with that being said there are some awsome tubers out there that look very scale. do the belong in a scale class? no you wouldnt see them in the same class in real life why would this be different. but i personally in scale class can care less what i run against thats not why i would build a scale truck

There is nothing wrong w/ wanting a scaler that performs well on the rocks as well.

It's the same foundation I used to build my scaler.

BTW JRH, i've been wanting to do a scale tuber w/maxx sized tires and TF axles so i pmed 1BJB if it was okay and he told me to post it up and if it was designed properly he would leave the thread and if not he'd move it.

Looks like a real vehicle to me, especially if there were some interior and an "engine" compartment on the front or rear.

As long as it's a plausible tuber, it should be scale enough. Make sure it's got some body panels and non-cartoonish tires and it should be good to go.

I agree JRH. It should have some sort of interior ie seats or seat, some sort of dash and a steering wheel.

This is IMO.

well since there is no real "scale compititon" i supose theres no real worry of how well it can handle the rock, besides youre own. I think as long as it is in proportion to wheels and WB and maybe has some seats or the idea of a plausible Cab and some body panels it should be good.

i think most clubs now offer a scale class with there own guidlines and rules, so i would imagine you would want it to at least spend more time on its wheels then on its lid.

Its got my vote I think most tubers are generally pretty scale, if you can add a dash and seats and stuff then its even better.
