Awesome plan to gather idea's for your garage build, you will get more info and inspiration by using the search function, and there are also a lot of 'Garage Diorama' builds on Google images that you could get idea's from.

People can show you their pictures all day, but your ultimate reward will be from searching google and hobby forums, here on RCCrawler too with the search function in toolbar atop the forum page. A very helpful and important tip for a new builder is SPACE !!! The first and most important decision and part of the building of a scale garage will positively depend mostly on how much SPACE you have available to give up. A 1:10 scale garage WILL command a good size piece of real estate on your workbench. My building is 34" deep by 40" wide, constructed on a piece of 3/4" thick plywood that's 48" deep by 50" wide. I did however build it with storage and transportation in mind. The entire roof consists of 28 trusses all cross braced and covered with plywood and built as one static unit that lifts off as one complete piece... for storage and mostly for photo taking from above if desired. With the same thoughts of better photo op.'s the front wall is also pinned in place and with the pull of two pins the entire front wall lifts right off for obstruction free photos from the front, or photos without roof structure and front wall combined for wide open pictures. And lastly with the potential of moving in a limited space vehicle or long term storage if not in use, the remaining three side walls are also pinned in place and removable if needed. It's yet to ever be stored and luckily has its own dedicated work bench space. Here a few pics along the way. I opted to go scale with construction right down to scale 16" on center, double top plates, structured trusses etc..., but you can construct one equally as functional with walls and ceiling made from simple pieces of plywood or even plastic sheets. Your only limits are time, resources and depth of wallet Note: as with nearly everything I own.... it's unfinished and picked and and worked on as time allows. | |
