| timing motors
ok heres the deal. a guy at the local track has 27 turn motors non adjustable timing. he told me that he twists the armature to get more speed out of th emotors (which would be advancing the timing) but has to replace the brushes more often. if anyone knows what hes talking about or know how to do it let me know. try to post up pics if you can. thanks dave |

its a common "CHEAT" in racing, there is not an easy way to see if one has done it... The reason it wears brushes faster, is it fires incorrectly and prematurely wears the leading edge. Im not sure which way to turn it but it is common practice

I believe you turn it clockwise. I've seen some racers do it on armatures that were on their last cut. You can tell because the wire at the comm is pulled sideways as you spin the armature. |
