Anyone who follows the Hip knew this was coming

Saw them live the first time they played Austin, and then the next time they came as well. They were fantastic live, even though my tastes normally run to "weirder" styles of music
Loved his voice, will never forget the first time I heard "New Orleans is sinking and I don't wanna swim"...

Must have seen them 10 times in my life. Mostly.during the late 80's and early 90's when they were still playing clubs. My favorite show was actually when Gord came through the city on tour with the Country of Miracles a few years ago. Man, that band was talented. Gord was always pure entertainment. It is truly a sad goodbye

It’s nice to hear that they were appreciated in the southern United States. When they started playing arenas up here, it became a treat to travel to Minneapolis and see them in clubs like First Avenue....memories of wilder days

That sucks! A buddy of mine that got me really into mountain biking back in college also introduced me to the Hip. Been a big fan ever since.

Tonight I Listened to the entirety of and watched parts of the Hips set at Woodstock ‘99. Man, it was moving to see a youthful Gord Downie rolling with it. Graciously stepping on toes with his poetic improvisation. Our Prime Minister broke down while eulogizing the man yesterday...
