Question Video editing software ????

Hey guys, looking to step up from my mobile free video editing software to something more professional on my windows PC. Can anyone give some advice and direction on what software would be my best bet. I will be editing my RC videos as well as editing my wife's cooking channel videos with it. Thanks in advance! Hope you have a great day!!!

I've tried out a couple of free editing programs and ended up settling on VSDC free video editor. I dont know if its the best, its just what I was able to get comfortable with and met my needs.

Thank you sir! I will have to check that out. I'm even willing to pay for good software. The mobile app I've been using is great but with the update they've taken away some of the features for free users. I figure if I'm going to pay for one it should be a good one.

I have found CyberLink PowerDirector easy to use, and it has a ton of features. It has so many features, it can be overwhelming unless you're willing to invest the time to learn it. It has a lot of tutorials on how to do basic and even more advanced editing.

I use cyberlink powerdirector ( 17 Ulltimate ), and it is also very fine, well worth its price.
you can also do the powerdirector 365 route which is a monthly rent, but have even more features on top.
It is now out in a V 18.

I have also just downloaded and installed the free Davinci resolve 16, and that almost blew me off my chair.
I did manage to load up a video and tweak its colors a little and snip off something at the end + export it, but took me a little while as is is a bit above the pinnacle studio and powerdirector i have tried before.

I've always been intrigued by DaVinci Resolve, but never took the time to download it and learn it. A buddy of mine is a video editor out in Hollywood at a major Motion Picture Studio. They just switched over to Resolve from the Adobe suite. He loves it

If you want something along the lines of professional quality, without the price, check Adobe Premiere Elements. Available separately, they also sell a combo package th6 includes Photoshop Elements. While I primary use Photoshop CC, I find myself using Photoshop Elements more & more. As for Premiere Elements, I've ALWAYS preferred it over Premiere.

Yeah, check out DaVinci Resolve. Great stuff if you want a full on video editor.

Thank you guys for your suggestions!!! It's very much appreciated!

When it comes to the divincci resolve. It's that a difficult program to learn? One thing I know I'd like to be able to do with whatever program is split screen or video in video type editing. Do any of these suggestions have that option?

I'm all about open-source (free) software. I do like OpenShot: https://www.openshot.org/

It looks like VLC is coming out with one eventually as well: https://www.videolan.org/vlmc/

I won't say DaVinci Resolve is "hard" to learn (ok, yes, I will), as I'm sure there are harder programs to learn...but, it sure as heck ain't "easy". Between learning DaVinci Resolve & Adobe Premiere Pro, I'd take Premiere Pro any day. I had DaVinci Resolve for a little while, and, while it is incredibly powerful (moreso than PP), the learning curve was definitely more than I was interested, or willing, to put into it.

Just because it's free, and powerful, doesn't mean it's "the best". If you've got the time to truly learn it, and are willing to put in the effort (both WILL take a lot), then DaVinci Resolve is probably one of the best video editing programs available. However, if you're somewhat limited in (learning) time and/or aren't willing to put forth the effort that will be required, there are other possibilities (which I, and others, have already suggested) you can go with.

I'm running with Magix Vegas PRO and have tried Premiere pro. I guess premiere is better, but I allready got the UI in my muscle memory from Vegas, so I'll stick to that..

No i dont think Resolve are hard to learn, at least not the basic stuff, just a bit different from the 2 i used before.
But i did manage to treat a video clip, and trim it a little, without looking at one single youtube tutorial of which there are probably many on using resolve too.

It was this hyperlapse recording from my osmo action camera i tweaked a little in resolve, nothing special just the drive from my mothers place and home 10 X faster than actual time for the drive.
