They knowingly went into a situation with intent to insult a culture and knew full well what they were up against/what to expect.

I think the camera's had to do with the non-violent attack, rocks.

Back in the 70's there was a film called Kentucky Fried Movie. It's probably out on DVD by now.

There's a skit in it called Danger Seekers. Guy walks into a Harlem-type neighborhood, screams the plural form of what we now know as The N Word, and runs like hell.

That's what these guys did, and for pretty much the same reason. Entertainment.
