| Peter Pan Peanut Butter salmonella Scare
Thu Feb 15, 2:22 PM ET Some jars of Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter are being recalled because of a possible salmonella contamination. The jars have the product code No. 2111. ConAgra, the manufacturer, said none of its testing has found salmonella. The Centers for Disease Control said 288 people have become sick. More than 50 had to be hospitalized. Weis Markets is pulling six Peter Pan peanut butter products from its shelves. Most of the reported cases of illness were in Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, Tennessee and Missouri http://news.yahoo.com/s/wgal/20070215/lo_wgal/11022575 I Happen To Have 4 Jars In My Closet Good Thing Garbage Night is Tonight |

We have actually had two cases of this in our town (Jefferson City, Missouri). Both cases were with children. One case was hospitalized and the other was not as severe and only required a doctor's visit. Thank God we eat Jif!

We had two jars here in the dorm....we had already almost finished the first one. Still alive. I think I am going to send the lids back to the company and see how much $ we get.

You probably wouldn't even know you had it, salmonella is nothing to BD's iron gut! It couldn't survive in the beer and hot chili peppers inviroment! |

See, this is exactly why "choosy mothers choose JIF." Words to live by (literally now).

Me and my mom saw this on the news last night. We then figured out why I was so sick and had to go to the hospital a couple weeks ago. |

Believe me I know all too well. My son and I both were really sick. I thought we had the flu at first. We had all the classic symptoms, fever, vomiting, major runs < MAJOR, and stomach pain. We found out later when we both went to the doctor on Wed. and saw this story on the news. YEP, we had peter pan and with those #'s. I'm gonna sue dammit.

Peter Pan > Skippy or JIF We threw out the two jars we had in the pantry (both 2111). And while the wife was at the grocery store today looking to replace our beloved Peter Pan.................the store had NONE!!!! I am thinking publicity stunt....................... |
