I’m not a fan really, but I do find him to be an interesting character. It’s refreshing to sometimes enjoy some music from an artist that does not fit the mainstream radio mold. |

They're pretty terrible but I think one of the worst is the jawga boys. They can play in traffic. Last edited by WHITE-TRASH; 03-10-2021 at 03:04 PM.

My dad was a country fan so I wound up with a lot of Willie, Waylon, Haggard, Jones, Cash, and Hank Sr in my blood. I got into country with Brooks & Dunn, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, Toby Kieth, Dwight Yokam, etc back in the early 90's and that progressed to Aldeen, Chesney, Big SMO ( hick life days), Justin Moore, etc, etc.. the newer breed of pop-country. At this point, I just can't do it anymore. I've reverted back to some of the old stuff but mainstream country is just so absolutely lame to me.. bro-trucks, flat bills, rollin' coal.. what a bunch of classless, tasteless morons. My roots will always be home-grown on the farm where I grew up but today's modern hip hop country just ain't for me. To be fair.. some of my feelings about this is likely just related to my age. I ain't hip no more so I don't even try to play the part.

Yeah lol, forgot about them. Quote:
Me too! My neighbors are always hearing Upchurch, Calhoun, Tom Macdonald, etc. Yes, yes I did have you pinned as a fan lol. Roots Run Deep is ones of my favorites too. The very first song I heard from him was Outlaw with Luke Combs and it hooked me. I listened to all his Country music for around a year because I couldn’t stand his, or anyone’s rap at the time. But now his rap is one of my favorites, really digging his new Mud to Gold album and the Hideas series right now. But I bounce back from each genre just like he does lol. Haha, Fair enough _________________ 79 F150 SCX10 ii TRXWalker

Johnny Cash, Waylon and Willie are my favorite ‘older’ country. Outside of Country would be Elvis and Mellencamp. I can’t deal with all the new mainstream country music. I used to listen to that and that only, but it’s so played out with every song being either about a girl or drinking lol. Funny story, Waylon’s step-grandson is actually a guy named Struggle Jennings-and Independent Rapper. _________________ 79 F150 SCX10 ii TRXWalker

I too had to Google Upchurch, never heard of him. I have typically been a punk and metal listener however the past couple of years I have gone a bit country. I grew up listening to country; a lot of Alan Jackson, The Judds, Garth Brooks, George Strait, etc... (reason I think I was into punk and metal was to rebel against the music my parents listened to ) Lately I have been listening to Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, Cody Jinks, Colter Wall, Dead South, Jason Isbell, etc... While my dad had old school country and bluegrass vinyl records that my brother and I played a LOT when we were young, I've never developed a taste for anything more modern in the country realm. Of course, there's ALWAYS genre overlap - southern fried rock and rockabilly among others. Here's a current fave - these guys are incredible, fantastic attitude and the main man is married to the washboard player: |

Been listening to country music for the last 25 years. Very very little of this modern country pop garbage. Just listened to a few UpChurch songs and sorry but me personally I really cant get into the county rap stuff. Close as I got to to liking the hick hop rap stuff is the early Colt Ford albums, when he did songs with the mainstream country singers. To me is was a pretty good mix of rap and harmony. |

Yes, I also like when the less mainstream artists collaborate with the big stars of yesterday and today. Speaking of which, I do really like the song "A Little While" that Upchurch did with Clay Walker.
