| new RC electric boat World Speed Record!!! 140.9 MPH no word on cell count or motor, but dang... i think the last record was around 120 crashed on its return pass(must make two passes to back it up, opposite directions. kinda like boneville) JUST after crossing the finish line he hired a diver to retreive the boat to get it tech'ed so the record would stand. http://www.modellbau-regler.de/Video...dro_140mph.wmv pics of the wrecked boat (yes there was a crey fish inside! ) |

Joerg Mrkwitschka It was 140. That boat was underwater for 5 days. my friend Dan Chase was the diver looking for the boat. This happened back in November. |

I was there the day before but had a comp on that day and missed it. :-( Dan searched for the boat everyday for 5 days. The Germans paid his hotel bill the for as long as he was willing to keep trying. Who knows mabey he will come on here and chime in. I'm not sure how much of the boat was slavageable, but I am pretty sure the main thing they wanted back was the prop. After 5 days underwater connected to 32 volts electrolysis took it's toll on the whole thing since it was all carbon fiber. Doesn't make Nic Case's 160 on land so impressive when you consider all of the forces that had to be overcome to do 140 on water. The Jags team are true pioneers in fast RC boating. One thing I noticed with their boats this year as opposed to last. They had the driveline offset entirely to one side of the boat. This is something that I did 12 years ago in my rc drag boats and determined it worked VERY well way back then. When I saw these guys doing the exact same thing, I now know that I was right. |

Well, you have most the facts except the date, just not in the right order. It did happen in November '06 I was the one diving (zero visibility) for the boat and Joerg didn't hire me, I was there racing for my team, "Rum Runner Racing" Joerg did pay my hotel bill to stay a few days longer and keep looking for his boat. The boat I was looking for and in the picture with the crawfish DID NOT set the 140mph record, it tripped doing around 130mph but had not made a backup run, so no record was hinging on it's recovery. It was underwater for about 5 or 6 days. The custom made prop Brian mentioned was however top secret and they (the Germans) wanted it back. On the last day of the straight line trials, Joerg made his record 140.9 mph two way average in his backup boat, one way was 143mph IIRC. That boat crashed and sank after crossing the traps on it's backup run. It did need to be recovered to be teched for the record to stand. Thankfully it was located in a relatively short period of time. Both boats were completely destroyed, but like Rockpiledriver mentioned, the prop was worth more then the sum of all the other parts combined, can't buy 'em off the shelf! So, like um..., how fast do these rock crawlers go?!?!?!? BTW: Joerg told me he was only a little over half throttle when he went 140+mph!!! We think he made one pass around 150mph, but had no cock to back it up. |

Oh yeah, it was running 32 WC 4200's cells and a custom Lehner 2250 motor and a custom made 320 amp Schulze controller. The hull and hardware were custom built carbon fiber and honeycomb composite built by team mate Arne Hold (the "A" in JAGS) Everything on this boat was one off, but the prop was irreplaceable! LMAO! Now I told you guys everything I know about the world fastest boat, so maybe you all can help me build my first crawler... |

Andrew, I race electric boats myself, but for gas boats the two best sites are Jim RC Boat Dock http://www.jrcbd.com/ and International Waters http://www.intlwaters.com/ You will have to join Jim's Boat Dock to see it, but it has more weedeater info on it. |

amen i know what you mean, some of our good race props on our gas cat must have 5-6+ hours of work in them. sucks when ya hit a turtle and it turns them into shiny paper weights:-( we run hand worked brass props. i think you electric boys run carbon fiber if i recal. |
