Default Mama and her babies

My wife was taking some stuff outside last night and saw her out of the corner of her eye. Of course being the animal passivists we are, we figured it would be better to take a picture than kill her.

She's a wolf spider carrying around her babies. Thought you guys might enjoy. I left the image huge sized so you could get the full detail of all the babies.

Enjoy!

I absolutely HATE spiders. BUT I ALWAYS try to remove them before killing them.

That is an excellent picture. Looks very national geographical.....

Just think, that's loads and loads more little babies spiders that could be mamas carrying little babies on their backs.

That's easily 1000 or so spiders worth right there in a couple years!

I am getting used to touching/holding insects (not completely at the 'spider level' yet), but I hold large beetles and similar harmless bugs. Nonetheless, that is a cool spider, good find!

x2

I am not scared of a lot in life, but snakes and spiders turn me into a five year old little girl REAL quick!! If I had run across that mama out in the woods, no biggie, I would have kept my eye on her and walk backwards very slowly. If I had run across her in my yard, GONE'R!!!

Ya i once saw something like that crawling around in the kitchen. So i figured I'd smash it cuz I didnt want it in my house. HUGE MISTAKE all those babies scattered off and started running around. It looked like a black puddle that was moving around. I ran over and got some bug spray, but dam was it grose.
