| What's it Worth?
There's a Tamiya TLT-1 on consignment at the LHS, and I was considering to buy it, but $200 seems just a little steep. I don't have any photos of it, but here is what I can remember since I took a good look at it: -It is a basic TLT-1 kit and I don't know if there are bearings in the axles or not. -It has a "widening kit" installed that makes it have a 12.5" wheelbase. The "widening kit" is just 6-32 threaded rod that's been cut and sleeved. The card said that the owner paid $100 for the "kit" alone, but it looks like I could make it for less then $10. -It has BB's in the tires, and it appears that the stock tires have been cut, and the stock rims painted. -It has an aftermarket painted body that has seen better days. -It is a roller with a really old (Futaba FP- something) front steering servo. -Stock tranny. -Stock shocks. -Some sort of aluminum part on each corner. I couldn't tell if they were wideners or not, but it didn't appear so. I told the guy at the counter that I'm willing to pay $80 for it because it's used, it's a roller, and $80 is what the LHS did sell the kit for, brand new. So, I'm waiting on a call from the LHS to see if the guy wants to sell it at that price. |

It's worth what you are willing to pay for it. You seem to be intelligent on exactly what it is, what has been invested, and what is need to make it what you want. You can answer your own question. But to ballpark it, yea, probably about $100 or so. |

I always believe that good used parts are worth 50-60% of what they cost new. If they are still like new, maybe 75%. A TLT cost $80, and it doesn't sound like this one has anything that really adds to it's value. Being that this one is widened and has a radio, I'd say you are right on with your estimate of it's value. |

On ebay that's at least $150-$175 as you discribe it.

| Maybe you should read his profile before thinking he's posting for the sake of post count?? 1. He's well over the 30 post count, and 30 days needed to see the classifieds. 2. I know Stormin personally. Stormin has been a construction project manager for one of the largest construction Co's in the Midwest (if not the US) for 30 yrs. He NOT a punk kid looking to be a post whore. 3 If you're looking to find fault with someone for post whoring? look at m7154life and others. You're barking up the wrong tree |
