| Question for the boat guys
Just now I was surfing ebay, and look at boats, I look here and there just to see whats out there... I am eventually thinking of stepping it up from my traxxas villain... I cant knock it, it has been great, and is a lot of fun for what I do. When I cruise ebay, I look at other villains that are for sale just to see what mods they have done... well I came across this one today: http://cgi.ebay.com/TRAXXAS-VILLAIN-...QQcmdZViewItem He says he reversed the motors so they spin inward which supposedly makes it faster I checked the traxxas site and they do spin outward in stock form... my question is, would reversing them make that much of a difference ?? if so, would it affect the way it handles? I really like the way my boat handles now, I can rip turns at pretty much full speed without spinning out or flipping and it doesnt even have trim tabs yet. My next upgrade is some carbon fiber props, I am going to order them this week. Thanks in advance -Mike |

spinning the props inward or outward is not going to make much if any difference in speed given they are the same size prop. The speed increase is likely due to his new props being 48mm. I can only assume those are larger or a higher pitch than stock.

all over our race boats are single prop, but in theory having the Prop wash/turbulance hitting each other, as apposed to shooting towards the wake could slightly decrese the effort of the props pushing on the water. an there could even almost be a jet drive effect created in the middle by hte two washes merging. does it work? who knows, probly not, is the possibility there? id say probly so. all our boats run ported and lightened G26s, but ive heard tons of good stuff about this brushless boat. and i know a few RCCers have them... http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...=LXMDJ4**&P=ML Last edited by STANG KILLA SS; 07-13-2007 at 07:28 PM. |

Thanks for the info guys, I dont think its worth unsoldering pulling the motors out and reversing the timing on the one...more hassle then its worth for something that *may* work | |

Never know until you try it. I bet you get bored and do it anyway.
