| Need to know the best plastic on plastic friction reducer.
I have a little toy that shoots plastic darts using a loaded spring. I think the problem is either the male end is too large or the female end is too tight (geez don't we all wish lol). The first thing you would think of is reduce the radius on the male end, or increase the circumfrence of the female end. But there are a couple problems with that. Altering the dimensions of either piece would start to affect trajectory and reduce accuracy. The second is finding a rat tail small enough to fit in the female end, then trying to resmooth the bore with like a rod and sand paper. So I'm thinking some sort of lubricant would help at least a little bit here. I can't really think of any liquids that wouldn't weigh it down and/or gum up the action, but maybe a bit of graphite powder down the bore would work? Remember the parts are very small so they are very sensitive to any change. Any ideas? |
