means it has a small speaker on it so if you use it as a vid cam you can hear the sound with the movie

For $100 more the Nikon D40 is a nice entry level SLR.

That means NO "shutter lag" and you can actually use interchangeable lenses.

I have no experience with the Nikon stuff other than using emaxxjeremy's D90...I use Canon.

His D90 was nice, though.

That is a nice camera, but also check out the Kodak z712is. It has been on sale alot of places for about $230...
It is very similar in specs, has 12x optical zoom, image stabilization, ect. I have one and really like it.

http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v211/rcktpwrd/? the first 20 or so pics are with the z712, most are straight out of the camera and only resized, up to the flowers, those are with an older Kodak dx6490.

I have the S1 IS, which is only 3.2mp, that's all I use for my videos and pics. It's got enough features to mess with that you won't get bored with it right away. JIA brings up a good point though, the shutter lag can suck if the camera isn't set for high speed action.

I took all the photos in this thread with my camera set for high speed.

Smokin_

You can't go wrong with the S series Canons...Since the S1-IS they
have been killer deals. There are a dozen people around me that use
them. None of them would give up their S series...

I have a Canon 10D SLR and it's an awesome camera, but my next camera
will be an S series (probably S5-IS), if for no other reason than it's
portability (the 10D is a hoss to tote around, right Jason ?)
