Default Body Rule Question....

ok so i know the wheely king body is called a 1/12 scale body. But its actually bigger, and has more actual structure and straight up more lexan then most comp cut bug bodys i've seen... and then you look at a some stadium truck bodys that they call 1/10 scale are way smaller then the WK body...

so what do you guys think?? would you let a WK body compete??

It has been discussed a few times. Do a search and I am sure you will find it.

I have no problem with it.

That rule was just written to keep people from using super tiny bodies like 1/18 scale stuff.

Then the comp rules should be changed to allow that particular body becuase there are many groups that follow those rules to a T.

Having rules in place so a newcomer (likely a young kid) that takes his WK to a local comp is told he can't compete because the body isn't 1:10th scale isn't a good way to bring new people into the sport.

I agree. Also since HPI is the sponsor of Nationals.

I was asked yesterday by a competitor if the PTI Goliath body is legal. It is listed as an 1/18th scale body and is significatly smaller than a regular 1/10th scale body.

I think maybe we could drop the 1/10 from the rule, and just go off the measurments.

so it must be 12" long x 5" wide x 3.5" tall then

Im looking at some of these bug bodies ready for the Nationals and many are chopped of in length and measureing mine here Im betting many are less than 12" long...........is that going to be an issue

Do you think that would open it up to people making a 12" long x 5" wide x 3.5" tall lexan blob??

The one you are thinking of is being used as the panels for a tube chassis.

But yes if someone running a body on a non tube chassis doesn't fit the minimum measurements it won't fly.

The current rule says

Quote:
Vehicle must run a body that is 1/10th scale or larger. Body trimming is allowed but 70% of the original
body must be retained. Legality of a body is to be determined by the event judges. Judging guidelines are
as follows: 3” minimum height on sides. No more than 3” taken off total length. No less than 12.5” total
length and full width, or no less then 5" in the center.
We could change it to read:

"Vehicle must run a production body. Body trimming is allowed, however body must be a minimum 3" height on the sides, no less than 12.5" total length, and no less than 5" wide. Narrowing of the body is prohibited."

Rearranged some words, took some out, added some in, but I believe our original intent is still there, and it should be clear.

Works for me!

I really think some times people get to anal about the body rules.

I have yet to lose a comp do to the cut of a body.

narrowing the cab of the body is prohibited or center of the body is prohibited.......that will still allow for dovetailing

see if it has a full cab then its not panels in my mind. its just a way around the 12.5" rule

It's a tube chassis, the body doesn't need to be 12.5" long.
