Default Rock Cross?

What do you guys think about the new rock cross racing?

Think this is something that could be adopted into rock comp's? The courses may need to be man made.... but it sure looks fun!

The videos you posted are 2 different sports.

The first post is rockcross which just had their first event last weekend, It runs 3 rigs all on the same course all at the same time, double elimination style. Loose twice and you are out. Pretty dangerous if you ask me, 3 openwheel rigs not built for side by side competition all going at it.

The second post you made is XRRA rock racing, which I personally compete in and think it is a blast. It is only one rig per course running against the clock fastest time of the day wins.

Yeah... based on speed and skill... seems like something that could be adapted to R/C for the "racer" in all of us...

Check out "Crawl" magazine.. lots of really cool 1:1 info the whole ERR (extreme rock racing) facinates the heck out of me.. THe way my WK is set up (55turn motor and stock tranny) gives me a bit of get up and scramble as well as the ablity to crawl with most of the other 2.2 rigs out there..
It would be interesting to give the whole speed and agility thing a try at a comp.. A timed run over a set course with markers and boundries shoulnt be to tough to manage....
I guess it could be scored on time with seconds deducted for out of bounds and gate hits/misses....
I like the idea of adapting it into the sport of rc crawling.. sides who wants to go slow all the time?

I was at that SLC event and it was a blast. Rigs bumping into eachother and even one rolled over the other once. There was alot of carnage . We went back into the pits where a rig was getting a new nuckle put on and broke the caliper also.
I even met Rick PeeWee from 4wheel petersons magizine. Alot of fun .
We may have to try this on our next comp.

looks like UROC's attemp to not go under... not really something i could get into, rock crawling has always been more about driver ability and skill. not bumping some other guy off the top of a 20' tall rock to take first place.

I think I'd rather do that with my WK than with a 1:1 rig!
