Default Things RC has taught me

A few things I've learned in recent days:

1. Welding barefoot (and in shorts) - Bad idea.

2. Gluing tires without a T-shirt on - Bad idea.

3. Soldering while wearing nothing but boxers - Bad idea.

4. Dropping a hot soldering iron is fine, trying to catch it - Bad idea.

5. Learning not to catch a hot soldering iron - Good idea.

6. Letting it land in your lap while wearing boxers - Bad idea.

Feel free to add to the list.

And here I thought I was the only one who worked in the garage border-lined naked.

Seriously though. I've had so many close calls while trying to solder batteries together in my boxers, it isn't even funny. I gave up trying to smoke a cigar and do anything too. I know more than a couple of my tlt diffs have ashes inside the jb weld. Apparently I haven't the dexterity for it.

It was 102-106 outside.

Even at 10PM it was hot enough that I'd start beading sweat in the garage...thought I'd be smart and stay cool.

That's another favorite. Don't sweat on your batteries while soldering them, good things don't happen.

Even though it is a Pencil type soldering iron, hold the tip like a pencil is not good for your fingers.

Hobby knifes can be deadly, lets leave it at that.

Measure several times screw it up when drilling start over.

If you're wearing only your boxers while soldering and you see some liquid solder spill on the floor, DON'T hit it with a hammer.:-(

Thumbs down

Holding a motor with one hand and trying to drill out a stripped pinion gear set screw with a dremel. Its amazing how long it takes to hit bone.

If you put a new shiney sharp blade in the exacto.. bring bandaids and superglue with you.

Catching a falling exacto---Bad.
With your foot---worse.
