Well with todays technology with the brushless motors the power is just overkill IMO. Why have all that power when you know it's going to break things? I'll stick to my brushed for now, Maybe move up laterdown the road.

TLT is to rc rock crawlers what Ozzy Osbourne is to heavy metal (of course Ozzy before the stupid TV show!) |

| All I did to mine were bearings and aluminum knuckles for the bling factor (polished them and everything). I ran the bushings for almost a year before I bought bearings. Like Grizzly said, reasonable driving and a properly adjusted slipper, no breakage.

Who knows for sure what is going on.... I wouldnt be surprised if they are re-testing the waters with these. If they are paying any attention to the hobby, they would see what people are really using the axles for. I wouldnt be surprised if we see a Tamiya Rock Crawler that uses TLT axles. I wouldnt be surprised if it popped up in the near future. but who knows, that could just be wishful thinking. Only time will tell...

If they were smart theyd drop the TLT and bring it back a wee bit more crawler ready, like the AX-10. I doubt it would be a bad idea...the AX-10's are selling, then again so did the TLTs.

After that if you have the money I'd go to CVD's, then aluminum axle C's. I've only stripped one ring gear in a year between the two trucks I have. That was using a brushless motor with no slipper.

if you notice in the description on tamiya's page there, they actually mention about just using the kit for JUST the axles...

I ordered mine several days ago and havent heard anything yet. The charge from Tamiya is still in the pending charges on my CC, so Im kind of thinking they ran out before I got my order in.... EDIT: I lied, it finally went through. Last edited by Mirage; 10-12-2007 at 09:21 AM. |
