Us old farts here used to watch Ivan at Jack Murphy Stadium, before it was Qualcomm Stadium! A good friend of mine used to race with Ivan back in the early 70's. Back then, they'd take a stock truck, double shock it and run the 500 and 1000!

There are those of us that watched it on ESPN and wasted away our quarters at the arcade playing Ivan Stewart Racing

One year when the Mickey Thompson series was in Denver I got to be a course worker. I was a fireman on one of the corners and even got to salvage a KC light from Ivan Stewart's truck.

Great find Jason.

I prefer old-school SODA offroad racing instead. That's pre CORR for those of you who don't know

(I just posted that video up before coming on this site!)

Hey Griz, did you ever goto the off road track down by Canyon City back in the day? I have some ticket stubs from a few races back in the 70s that my dad went to. Too bad it was shut down before I could enjoy it.

No, never did. I don't even remember that.
I did go watch a race up by Central City once. Back in that era before it became a tourist trap.

As good as MT was and CORR series is, I still think the Off Road World Championships held at Riverside Raceway in CA. were the best ever!
