Default Today is the day!

Its my birthday! I know I'm an attention whore :(

Got my restricte3d and passed the test 100%.

Working on my car I broke a bolt off in the intake manifold tried a few bolt out kits nothing worked, and and aluminum intake manifold with a steel bolt so I'm thinking its never coming out with out a lot of work, to much work to make it worth while, I'm going to be getting a new one made for low RPM, either a holley street dominator or an edelbrock performer. Still pissed out the bolt and not being able to drive it.

Got a few cool presents some nice glove to work on my car, blazing saddles dvd, super troopers dvd, and a smokey and the bandit set, and $150 was spent today for parts on my car, I'll also be getting an intake manifold soon.

I'm told that my sister is getting me two really sweet presents Friday they were out of stock here so she has to go pick them up.

Get a good penetrating oil and use it on the bolts. It usually takes 2-3 times and giving it several minutes to soak in , but the wait is worth it....Trust me, Been There....Done That!

Oh Yeah.....HAPPY B-DAY!!!

What size bolt? You could try and drill it out. Also could try heat or cold. I dont know which metal expands more though.

try a left hand twist drill bit, and drill into the bolt with your drill in reverse. When the drill bit catches it should start backing out the bolt. Also the best penetrating oil out there is PB blaster, the stuff works.

if that don't work, at least you have a hole drilled to use an easyout bit.

Well if you got the hole started straight and center then drill it out further. If need be then go to your local auto parts store and get the correct Helicoil kit and drill the hole out to the correct size and install the helicoil and your done.

Helicoils are where it's at. I just had a thought though. If one bolt broke off, take the rest out and pull the manifold. Then you can get something on the protruding stud. Might give you some extra leverage to work with.

This is what I would try... Take the Manifold off.. Gives more room to work. Use BP Blaster... Spray and soak. Do that for a few hours maybe even over night. Get yourself a 3/4in Nut...But the nut over the Bolt. Then weld the center of the Nut to the old bolt. Let it sit and cool down. Try backing it off then. If that doesn't work you will have to drill it out. Do the Rev.. Drilling tip that was stated above..

Did the bolt snap off in the block? Or did the head of the bolt just snap off?

The head and about 1/4 of the bolt snapped off. Just a little sticking up, I don't have a drill press and it would be a bitch to try and do it with a hand drill, I don't think it would be possible, lol. A machine shop said it would probably be about $80 to get it fixed up. A intake manifold was going to be an upgrade we were going to do any way. I already had about half the money.

Parts! I'm ready for Sunday to be here, I wanna work on my car

All this talk and all the upgrading you are doing is the intake manifold?

Yes for right now. There is more to come later. and there might even be some 1.52 roller rockers if the shop has them instock.

Keep in mind a 350 will be swapped in pretty soon.

Then why put all your new parts on an engine that will be swapped out? It'll save you having to get another set of gaskets, and your parts will still be clean and not all sh!tted up from being on a pos motor.
