Well the FlatIrons were easier in some of the old sections that BigTEx and I have run, but it still ate my lunch.

Since the truck can climb better and has a little better flex I was trying some super steep ledge filled climbs. The longest and steepest one let me suffer a hard roll and shear a rod end. Guess I should really coinsider getting bigger and beefier rod ends. Oh yeah, did I mention that this was about 45 min ago, in the dark, well dark other than the 2 million candlepower spot light

So when are the rest of you going to come out and try out what the Big Iron has to give?? I will be up there again with Big Tex Friday afternoon if anyone is interested!

I want to see how my canteliver links hold up... i still dont have any drive shafts... i need to measure how long they need to be and the amount of slip and figure all that stuff out. i wish i could come... rumor is that everyone is meeting tomarrow at 4-5pm... somewhere in flat irons... i unforutnetly work till 4pm in highlands Ranch...

Rumor mill is right, there were 4 of us up there today. @ Clods and 2 TXTs. As Much as I want to say I lead the TXT dominance, I can't. The Almost Stocker fought the good fight and hung with 4Lo and The Super Duke. BootyFab, BigTex's TXT had some major teething problems which limited his run time and fun. All and all a good day. Great comp place, and it is nice to have the one and only Scoring Nazi there to hash out questions on rules as you crawl!

The shafties will dominate, just let me find more time and money! Or lend me you mill there Ace!

Let one TXT guy help another TXT'er out:

1) Loose the Canti's, they SUCK
2) Cut the Chassis, you will love it
3) Buy 2 2.5 maxx diff side yokes, and 2 Revo shafts. Install 2.5 yokes on Revo then attach to TXT tranny, slide other end of Revo on TXT axle and enjoy!

Don't listen to Ace, his is a quitter . Once he too stood tall as a Shafty driver, but not anymore!

Twisted, dude, I guess I needed to be more specific, by FlatIrons, I mean the FlatIrons Mountains, not Flat Irons Mall.

What do you think we are Mall Crawlers? :P

We meet up at the Einstien Bagles on Broadway and Baseline in Boulder, then head up into the hills.

BigTex had his camera, but I think he was too busy playin with the new crawl to care about pics. Guess we gotta go again :P

Shoot me a PM if you want better directions, and I will give you my number so I can show you around some death wheelin!

I would love to go wheeling one of these days if i can ever get my rig done. This weekend i mounted my battery to the rear axle, and extended my drive shafts... yeah, the drive shafts lasted like 30 seconds.... i thought i was being all cleaver with jb weld , pipe and the stock drive shafts.... nope... still dumb... going to try something else now.... anyone got some ideas? im going to measure the drive shafts and see how long they need to be. I belive Revos are too short....

Hmmm? I use 2.5 slider shafts, lengthened and jb welded and have not had any problems, even with dual motors, low gearing and Kongs. Maybe your shafts were ready to fail before the mods? How long is your wheel base?

BC and Big Tex have a great spot. There were lots of lines and challenges where we crawled and being in the mountains I am sure there is more stuff to be discovered. Crawling on man made stuff is fun but natural cracks, crevaces, and faces offer some of the best challenges. I caint wait to go back and have more time to crawl. We only had a couple hours befo the sun went down so we tried to get in as much crawlin as we could. Ace really needs to get some lights made for us, NOW.

Big Tex’s new rig needs help but I am sure that he knows what to do and will have it ready to kick asse very soon (I have seen his 1:1 and he knows his shiznit!). Thanks to BC for putting up with A LOT of shiznit, Ace and I gave him grief everytime he got stuck or rolled but in reality the TXT put on a good show and werked good (for a shafty ). BC was not afraid to try any line out there.

Thanks for a good time guys, and I hope you can join us soon TwistedXT.

Twisted, how long is your wheelbase? I am 16" and I use Revos. You have to cut the blue boot on a Revo to get it to really extend. However that does allow it to more prone to breaking when you smack it on a rock or concrete. Don't ask, I am afraid of what Ace or Griz may give as their version of the breakage!

Griz, what is the fun of crawlin if you are afraid of new lines? I did that kinda dumb follow me and hope you can make it in the Scout so it is only natural I do it with the little truck. Besides, I am still waiting for that line that you and Ace can't do, call me over waiting to pick on the shafty only to have it walk the line and make the Clods bow down That day will come, it will come I tell you!!!

I also think it gets to you and Ace when I won't give up and toss the schiznit back or feed into it

When is everyone free to do this again? I am not free until 13th of November. EIT this weekend, test on tuesday, est week from tuesday, interview wensday, interview week from wensday,......it goes on and on.... Not to mention I need to tweak the the TXT some, so that it can show up those pesky clods.

I am still fiddlin around with the stock drive shafts, i'll post my McGiver pics tomarrow. I lenghtened the wheelbas somewhere between 2-3 inches and i also lenghtened the canteliver links to give added ground clearance due to extending the wheelbase.

I know how to post links but how do i post pics on the site? i have tried searching a bunch of times but all the posts i have found dont describe how to do so..... anyideas?
