| Thinking of building a SUPER - input please I am thinking about building a super! What do you think of the parts list below? DX6 radio (or is the DX6i better) AR6000 receiver 3 – Hitec 7950 (2 up front, 1 out back) – going to need earplugs! Castle BEC Pro 2 – Holmes BR-XL ESC 45T motors (with 9 or 10 tooth) 3S to start…then step up 4S Super Bully Axles Superjuice V2 Chassis Traxxas big bores Narrowed 4.5” HPI wheels Nova Foams Narrowed Plowboys – soft version Homemade Derlin links or maybe some from ripper7 |

Looks like a good list to me! You might want to order some high strength gears for those axles (especially if 4 cell is in the future)

Personally I would run a clod, unless RC3WD has come up with a fix for the breaking gears/pins/etc.

Good start, looks a lot like my build I would go with the new 65:1 gear boxes (just ordered mine today) and I'm not at all impressed with the 7950. I smoked one after only running two packs through it. Eddie is the man for tires. I just talked to him on the phone on Sunday about doing me up a set of plow boys. You will love the superjuice chassis. The last thing I would do differently on mine is titanium links instead of delrin. I run titanium on my 2.2 and like them better. Oh, and make sure you do the knuckle / tube mod and get almost 50 degrees of steering. Happy building. |

Thank you for all the input. I have been back and forth on the 65:1 gear boxes. Sounds like it might maybe worth the extra money. What servo does everyone like? Should I wait for the 7980 or run a futuba maybe? Is two servos up front overkill? Thanks again!! |

You should check out his thread in the super section.) Also he recommend getting the cheap programer from Hitec I think it's around 20 bucks and programing a cut off on the servo's. I am going to be going to two servo's in the front. I will most likely still use 7950 because I have them and Hitec is fixing it for me. I have had great luck with the JR 8711 that's what I ran in my old super. | |

Clods for sure, 1/4 or 1/5 scale servos, more than 11 volts, 2 bec's, Devil maxx tires.

I installed 65:1 cases in mine last week. I love the extra torque. It also took a lot of strain off the motor. I ran about an hour and a half with 55 turn motors and they didn't get hot at all. I put in 45 turn motors last night, now I have speed and torque. I think the 65:1 cases are definately worth having. They're also 66 grams (2.33 Ounces) lighter than the 38:1 cases. Cuts more than 4.5 ounces of weight between the front and back axles. |

Your parts list sounds great to me. You can't go wrong with that tire and wheel combo. I went with 1/4" steel rod for my lower links, so I would have extra room for the way I wanted to run my shocks. I used 1/2" Delrin on my last super and they held up just fine, but took up a ton of room, and they just about weight the same as my new steel ones. I have broken on gear pin in the front of my bullys, but I am not sure if the 65:1 case has that part of the gear made differently. I will have to check on that before I buy a set of the new gear cases. But, the lighter weight sure would be helpful |

Thank you for all the input!!!! Just waiting for the 65:1 axles to come off of backorder to get started. What about running cut'n'shut white rovers on 3.8" proline tech 5 wheels with nova foams? Better or worse than the narrowed soft plowboys? |

Hard to beat white rovers. Quite a few people running that combo. I personally like 4" or 4.5" wheels and larger tires. To me the 3.8 wheels is almost a 2.2 tire size. I would say it's personal preference on tire size. One benefit to the smaller / narrower tire is less stress on servo's.

Or you run the bigger wheel and tire and a bigger servo. Hell I'm on the same servos I put on a few years ago, just now getting to the point where they are feeling kind of tired. I think I'm gonna update my old clod axles with new hs-5755's and keep beating on all you bulleys. |

Got a couple parts for my super on Friday... Still waiting on Radio, Servos, and the lower links. With any luck they will be here early next week. |
