| Cheap Rocks
I would really like to build a little test / practice spot in my back yard. I have been keeping an eye on craigs list for rocks / boulders but most of the prices are a little steep. Where does everyone get their rocks ? I am not looking for too many ( i have a pretty small back yard ) maybe a couple of big boulders and some fillers .... Any ideas anyone ??

you drive around your neighborhood at night........I see lots of nice rocks in my neighbors yards.......... kidding, i'm in the same boat. been watching for some but no luck yet. I was wondering about obtaining a permit to get some from the mountains myself somehow |

At my last house I build a rock course in the back yard. I went to a horse rescue place and since they don't want rocks in the pasture they let me load up my truck bed for free. Not all of them we huge rocks, most were about softball size, some bigger, some smaller. But with some fill dirt I was able to make some fun obstacles. |

I bought rocks from a landscape supply company. Like some mentioned above, they call it Rip-Rap. It costs $30/ton and they had a choice of Mountain Granite or Colorado Rose. I have a mini-crawler, so I don't need a lot of rock. I spend about $12 for my little rock garden. Specifically I got them from Pioneer Sand & Gravel and I know they have several locations throughout the state. I still want to add a few more rocks. |
