| 1979 k5 blazer
Hello if you dont already know me I am derrek I have a 1979 k5 blazer it has a 350, skyjacker 8" lift and 41" irocks corp 14bolt and a 44 in front for now. Does any one wanna help build up my rig I have a 700 sq ft garage and gonna start my build soon. I want to build a exo cage tow in the front and dove tail the rear Im thinking of using the 8"spring for a quartereliptacle suspension on the rear with a four link and for now 64" long leafs on the front. I have had this truck now for 7 years and only did the lift axels and body trimming. If anyone is interested let me know or send me a pm. Thanks Derrek Jojola |

Sounds like a fun build. I don't think the front axle is going to hold up to 41" tires if you do any serious crawling though. I had to go to all chromalloy stuff in 44's, I was breaking axles with 35" tires.

My Dana 44 with 35s did OK, but I was in a early Bronco so much lighter truck. 41s are a bit much

For real, 41"s and a D44 sounds like a nightmare, then again, I am running a d30 (Read: super polished) on 35s really hard and its still strong.

Built right with the right driver a 44 will hold up for a while. I am running 37s on a 44 with Chromos and I have a light foot. I have broken a few cheap chromos. I have been slowly upgrading to nice chromos and I am fully confident it will hold up without a problem for a long time....even after I go to 40" Iroks. A lot of it comes down to driver. Heavy foot will blow up a 60 on 35s, really light foot can make a 30 survive on 35s. I have seen both. Now a K5 blazer may just push all of what I just said out the window....that is one heavy pig to push through any hard trail!
