how does the points system work? Id like to come watch or run but i work nights. Maybe next month i can come watch.

Each course is 10 gates and either 5 or 6 minutes to run them. A perfect run would be a -20 per course. You get points for touching a gate, touching the car, reversing and so forth. For every gate you progress you get -2 points.

So
Reverse = 1 point
Gate = 10 points
touch = 10 points
reposition = 5 points

if you reach 40 points with any of the above penalties, you point out. If you don't finish before the 5 or 6 minute mark, you're out.

if you complete the course under 40 points or within the time frame, you add up the penalty points then subtract the progress points.

ie.. 25 total penalty points then subtract the number of progress points -20 = -5
if you point out or time out, you take 40 minus the number of progress points.
ie.. 40 - 16 (8 gates progressed) = 24.

So I understand what a repair is, but when would you technically "touch" your rig?

In actual competition, a "touch" is called if:

-Your rig rolls into or runs over your own body. This is usually only strictly enforced in higher levels of competition. Local weekly comps tend to be a little more relaxed and allow a little leeway. If you touch the rig purposely and knowingly, then you may be called for it.

The only time where a touch is NOT called and actually encouraged is if the rig is falling off of the 2nd level. At that point, it is o.k. to catch your rig, set it on the 1st level on all four tires where it would have landed. I do know the guys at Crawl Space don't want you to break if it comes to that kind of situation.

-You call for a reposition (repo) back to the last progressed gate.

-You call for a repair (On or Off course) which will then reposition you back to your last progressed gate.
