Figuring out how to embed videos

You can only embed videos in the chit-chat section.

I figured it out thanks.

While researching this I have found that you can make embedding videos an addon that works much like posting pics.
Sort of like this. [youtube]vid link[/youtube]

Maybe if that will work you could disable html and just run that so people can embed vids anywhere on the board.

I agree that embeding videos is easy once I figured out what I was doing wrong.

But by integrating the code into the forum members may be able to embed videos anywhere on the site without needing html priveleges.

Right now we are limited to one section.

Also by enabling embeded vid's it will create less links that will drive traffic away from the site. Which is bad if you generate revenue with paid ads. (clicks google ad for the hell of it )

The reason we only allow video embedding in a select few forums is purely for management reasons. If we allowed it in every forum, what would stop dumb ass kids or spammers from embedding a porn video and setting it to auto play so when anyone goes into the thread it automatically starts to play the offending video.

When viewing a video on YouTube, there is a box on the right that says "EMBED" and has a jumbled mess of HTML code. Copy and paste it into your post... usually only in Chit-Chat areas will it work.
