So if you have a "2.2 Clod" or a Twinforce, you have to run in the "Beginner Class", and the "Old School Class" is for People who haven't modded there trucks for over a year?

Kind of....NOT! HEHEHEHE

We have just found that the Super Class is just way to easy and therefor warrants the "Beginner" title. Finding courses in our area is becoming more and mor difficult, especially to find one that really takes the Supers to the limit. The bottom line is you can either make it or you can't with a super.

The oldschool class is just for those that want to add some difficulty to the larger crawlers. A sort-of getting back to our roots class.

The Pro Mod class would be kind of like the the "12th scale mod carpet class"....well not exactly but you get the point. There tuff and the challenge is always there. Limiting them to a sort-of spec type class makes'em even more challenging.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to take away from what the Supers are all about, its just that they have progressed to the point that there just a little to easy to walk through a course. Perhaps in a different area they would be more of a challenge. I got thinking the other day about why JK went to a Maxx style crawler......Is it becase it's a better crawler? Did he just want to try something different? Or was it because he was just not challenged by the Super Clod anymore? Who knows.

Looks like a 2.2" Clod could fit into Class 2, the "Old School Class".

Well thats a bummer for us that made a clod 2.2 to meet the 12.5" WB guidelines, with no rear steer!! Now we gotta stretch to meet the 14.5" guidelines.

SparkyJ - Where are you located? If it's not in Utah then don't worry, unless your group follows our lead :-).

Where just changing it up for the year 2006. In 05' we added the 2.2 class and it expoited in our face. Next year where changing the 2.2 and adding Old School. And in 2007.....LTFO! To give you an idea.....Think naked, outdoors, film crews, crawling and lots jello. It's still in the infant stages but I've got a pretty good idea on what to do.....

I will probably get flamed or thrashed for asking but say my rig had twin axles that were narrowed to tlt1 width could I still not run in class 3? I am thinking mabey it is stated only tlt-1 axles so everyone has the same width...or I am wrong all together.

[QUOTE=kingcobra]I will probably get flamed or thrashed for asking but ...........QUOTE]

We can't even get you to drive cross town, and you are worried about what you can run across the country in Utah! WTF!

In Utah their smaller classes have exploded. We had 2 or 3 trucks outside "Super Class" show up at our last get together (24drivers). We are behind them a little.

Our terrain is not a diverse as theirs, so if its challenging for the Super Trucks then its often impossible for the little guys.

I was thinking all of the sanctioned events had the same rules...that was my intent for asking....and if you remember correctly when that last comp was held I had a twinforce with close to standard width axles running 2.2 tires and wheels...the class I would have been in would have had me seriously handicapped....I don't see the point in competing if there isn't a chance I'll even place. however if my rig can be run in the 2.2 class now that the axles have been narrowed I want to compete.

Download the rules HERE

Locally we(SERCRC) follow rccrawler.com rules.
Other groups amend the rules to fit their membership and terrain.

Several members already own 2.2 class rigs, but no one brings them or shows up because no one brings them or shows up. Its a vicious circle............so bring your damn truck and show up!

Why not call it the unlimited class, beginner class just doesn't seem like a very good name for the most capable class.

I think by calling it the beginner class you are scareing people from building new things, who wants to build something very innovative, such as Kevin did with the stick, that will walk all over everyone, then be thrown into a group call beginners?

i agree jason, the names need some work. but i really like the idea of an "old school class". It will definitely make it easier to find challenging terrain.

I think "squat to pee class" would be even better.

I wish that more 2.2 trucks would show up at the comps here. I always have mine with me and just end up messing around with it while the clod is resting...
