Wow lots of hard courses. Lots of water on course 5. Rocks went from smooth to grippy. Lots of razor back climbs. Had a great time. Thanks alot CCRC and all the judges that were there a long time in the sun and Parker for that water course.

That was a freakin' blast!! Not sure if it was a wise choice for my first comp but what the hell...trial by fire sure flattens the learning curve! I really appreciated the judges patients and encouragement. Lots of cool competitors to! Thanks again to all that put this together! Marty J. |

The double header weekend is off to a great start. A first place finish at NCVRCC's Hatchery comp, but no time to think about that, Sunday is a new day and RockCad, B-Crofts, TheHammers (little and big), and never rule out the Faber Bros or the man on fire right now, Mr. John Hall; all of them want to dish out a good old rock spankin' to any driver that gets in their way, let's "Do Work"!! Let the festivities begin. The comp spot was SUPER SICK!!!!!! Everyone knows I hate water. Well, as fate would have it, Spuknit and I was assigned to work C-5, right next to the tranquil sounds of rushing water. Comp Greatness 101, by Proffesor Parker. A comp should test your driving ability, your rigs capability, your rock awareness, time managment, and what I call "the shakes". When a comp has all these factors, the outcome is always the same...FUN!!! I have never seen the diversity of rock in one location, EVER! Some areas were slicker than owl sh!t on a hot tin roof, but yet other areas had more gettin' it traction than a Gecko on fly paper. Good drivers should be able to drive on all types of rock, rip rap, and conditions, but this was like being thrown into a round room and told to go to the corner. Rock Awareness...A+ The Courses were all doable. Drivers need to remember that you have 40 pnts to play with. If you are having trouble with a gate, think about stradling, or "Denvering" that gate. As a Sport driver, the driver should always think where they are going to need to use a tactical reverse to get the correct line thru a gate or obstical. Driver Ability and rig capability...A+ Part of walking a course should always be time management. A flat area or low risk area, during your run, should be done quickly. This allows for mistakes or gives you crucial seconds at difficult gates or obsticals. Time Management...A+ Courses that put all this together and gives drivers of all skill levels a chance to learn and improve and "do work" results in "THE SHAKES". The Shakes is the moment when you finish a course and your initials aren't even legible, because your hands are shaking sooo bad, that if I had you stick them in a stainless steel cup with some chocolate ice cream and milk, you'ld make make me a shake. The Shakes...A+ What a great day. CCRC embodied the RECON Mission Statement with this comp. I learned a great deal, both on and off the courses. The commadary between competitors is top notch. All the top contenders helped out fellow pros and sport drivers all day. So I know that the drivers who attended, left as better drivers and sportsmen, because of others efforts. Thank you Judges, Drivers, Volunteers, and CCRC, the Sac Chapter of RECON, for all the hard work that went into rnd 1 of your Twisted Winter Series. Proffessor Parker will leave you with this rock to the head thought, Judges are human, without them, comps could never take place. Take the judging out of your run, by driving clean, calling you reverses, cones, ect, and whether you get a bad call or not, thank the judge his efforts. It is all in the adventure of competition that keeps us coming back for more. I will be back for more of CCRC's rockology lessons. Congrats to Daniel F. He not only put on a driving exhibition, but help out fellow pro drivers, myself included, throughout the day. Great Job on the win and helping others "do work". -Parker Last edited by DRIVNMF; 10-27-2009 at 06:35 PM. |

Hey, I signed up and paid the $20 for RECON membership. Just wondering if we will be hearing from someone soon or if there is something I need to do. Thanks, Marty J. |
