I have a question? So these are not top trucks, they are scale trucks?? I have a top truck I would love to compete with that is scaled after a real top truck, but if this is scale rules, then I can't compete. Kind of confused? Thanks |

| It is a Top Truck Challenge for the trucks that meet the Scale Nationals rules. It's not an unlimited class like Four Wheeler's Top Truck Challenge.

Thanks for the quick reply. Disappointing that the builders hands are tied in the building for a TTC class. But I also realize its hard to get away from the "stock truck" train of thought. Scale has more aspects than just a standard 4x4 that you see on the street. So anyways, if I lock my rear steer, will this truck pass? After voting of course. I am not much into rules when so much effort is put into trying to build a scale replica truck. Still in the build process Thanks Last edited by holycaveman; 03-16-2010 at 03:36 PM.

There is no requirement of "stock truck" in the rules. Guido scales out to a 113" wheelbase Bronco on 47" tires, I'd say that's Top Truck material as is many of the trail class 2.2 builds going on from War Pig, Pinchflat, Kaetwo, Team3six, etc. I'm not on the rules committee but based on what I know, if you lock out the rear steer it looks like it should be legal. Double check the rules but tires are legal, width looks legal, and the body looks legal.

As long as it meets the minimum scale points for a trail class, tire size, and no rear steer you should be good

I'd say it complies too. Make sure you get your -15 minimum, I'm assuming this still applies to TTC trucks. It would be nice to see rear steer allowed for the TTC, since they do allow it in the real one. I'm not sure it would provide any advantage, but would be cool to see it snaking along in the mud. Hell, even if you don't enter the TTC, bring it along. I'll be bringing something for mudding/bashing just for fun, so company would be great! |

Excellent rig The only thing that I would add is that you need to signed up for one of the classes other than Tuff Truck in order to be considered. You may have already done this but didn't see it mention so I throw it out there |

Thanks guys, now you got me thinking about seriously going As far as the rear steer, its harder to drive, but I have it to replicate the 1:1 I am building. Plus with a 15.5 in wb, its hard to turn tight with just front steer. If I get in though, I would lock it out to be legal. The rules comity in the future though may want to review this rule. If anything, do it for the scaleness of the real ones, and it would be nice to just run a truck with it. I am not into supers, and thats the only class I know of that allows it? Kind of weird, my buddy has it on his 1:1 street truck! LOL Thanks again. |

| We thought about it, and decided that since this is the first year of including a TTC in Montana, that it wouldn't be fair to make people build a truck just for the TTC. We figured that it would be better for turnout if we followed the scale rules already in place. If everything goes well this year, then I can see an unlimited class popping up for 2011.

Sounds great. The TTC is defiantly the next step in scale offroad. And it has challenged me to build a truck worthy of it. Looking forward to it!

If 4WS shows up in scale I'll be done with scale.

FWIW, I don't have any problem with an Unlimited class (not that I'd run it), but it would be a shame if you *had* to have an Unlimited styled rig to compete in the TTC. Now if there would be 3 classes for TTC (Street, Trail, & Unlimited), that'd be cool! Personally, I have no desire to ever run 4WS in scale. I don't want to have to eventually run a stick radio to have enough channels..... Last edited by Tommy R; 03-17-2010 at 12:51 PM. |
