Default ETRC Trail Truck Class Primer Comp

ETRC Trail Truck Class Primer Comp and Scale Day

When: March 29 Saturday
Where: Sugarloaf Park (Ocoee)
Time: Setup - 8:30 Tech Discussion and Start - 9:30

This will be an opportunity to discuss and learn about the Trail Class, practice building courses, and a full blown Trail Truck Comp. We will also run a Sporty Class Comp.

Trail Truck: 3 courses and a final
Long Scale Course: 2 courses
Shaft Class Sporty: 3 courses and a final

Sugarloaf park is a very nice park on the river BELOW all the Ocoee Dams. It is on the river side of hwy 64 right underneath the bottom dam. They have a huge concrete model of the Upper Ocoee River that is about 100 yards long, and it is surrounded by some river rock. The park has large fields, some wooded areas, a pavilion and picnic tables. It's a nice park to bring the family to. You can fly kites, play Frisbee, fish... as there is plenty of room.

If you have been doing this for years or you have never done it before, come on out. Bring whatever Scale Like Trail Truck you have. You can run it. We will be discussing the new rules and the new class there.

Trail Truck Class Rules

ETRC will still allow a run what you bring Comp. If you intend to compete at the National events, you should soon begin working on getting your truck into the specs.

I copied and pasted the Trail Truck Class Rules and Specs here. This is how they are currently however there is a change that will allow trucks with a stock width that is narrower than 9" to go 1 full inch wider than stock. I tried to make everything one color but I cant for some reason. If you have trouble seeing anything, let me know.

The USRCCA reserves the right to add any stock specification or measurement to class requirements at anytime if it deems it necessary to maintain the competitive balance of the class.

1.0 Pre-Approved a list of trucks
(List can be updated the 1st 6 months of year, and locked at least 3 months BEFORE Nationals)
  • Axial SCX10
  • Axial Wraith
  • Axial Ridgecrest AX90019
  • Axial Deadbolt AX90033
  • HPI Wheely King
  • G Made Sawback
  • RC4WD Trail Finder
  • RC4wd Yota
  • TBA
  • TBA

2.0) Drivers will need to declare what trucks on the per-approved list they are running, and will be tech checked according to the vehicles chassis. (See Vehicle Specifications below)

3.0TVP Chassis trucks must use OEM Chassis (skid and side Plates) with no modifications allowed.

3.1 OEM TVP Chassis part numbers:
3.1.1 Deadbolt and Ridgecrest Chassis Sideplate AX80116 and Skidplate AX80118
3.1.2 Wheelie King Chassis Sideplate 85266 and Skidplate N/A

4.0 Wheelbase and Track Width for each vehicle will be based of Factory dimensions plus or minus a 1/2 inch to allow for basic tuning like but not limited to bent lower links, wheel changes and shorter shocks.

5.0Minimum RTR weight is 5 lbs.

6.0 Knuckle Weights or weighted knuckles are not allowed.

7.0 Dig or 4WS (Choose one)

8.0 No competition specific bodies. Bodies selections are required to be 3" longer than wheelbase of of the vehicle. Trimming is limited to the fenders and must be kept to a minimum.(See Selection Guidelines)

9.0 No Competition specific tires. No modification is allowed to the carcass of the tire, in order to enlarge, reduce, narrow or widen tire by removing or adding sections of a tire. Tread can be trimmed, sanded, or siped, with nothing added or glued on.(See Selection Guidelines)

10.0 Wheels must be constructed in a fashion that represents a full scale wheel when assembled. Wheels must include a functional full width hoop and face, beadlock wheels are allowed and may be comprised of multiple pieces as long as they posses the required parts. No plate style wheels allowed.

11.0 Batteries and Electronics except steering servo(s) must be chassis mounted.

Course Building Guidelines: To allow for the wide variety of trucks in the class. Time limits whenever possible should be in the 8-10 minute range with 60 point limits and Gate By Passes (See in 1.7.2 in USRCCA Competition Rules) are recommended. Courses should have at least 16 inch wide gates and may include, but not limited to mud, water, and wood. Drivers should be notified in advance if waterproofing is needed. Consideration should be given to the number of drivers and course integrity.

Selection Guidelines
Competition specific tires and bodies are not allowed. The following lists of bodies and tires are just examples of, but not limited to, the items that are banned or approved for NATIONAL level competition. If you are not comfortable selecting your own tire/body please have it reviewed before the event, or have a back up plan to run an acceptable selection.

If you are trying to build to class spec.... Any truck with a stock width of 9 inches or less will be allowed to run 10 inches wide.

As far as ETRC... We are still running what you have this season.
