| I'm wondering how other clubs handle this situation. Alcohol at comps.
do you allow it? do you allow it only at parks/spots where it is legal? i would like to get some feedback on this. it just seems odd that drinking isn't allowed at r/c race tracks, but some people drink at r/c crawl comps. thoughts? |

It's never been an issue at our comps. It seems to me that most of the Colorado guys are not big drinkers at all. Our finals event is next weekend and we are all camping for several days, I am sure that at night we'll be breaking out the beers, but I doubt anyone will during the comp. |

We dont have any drinkers during our comps, but as long as they were responsible and didnt get all riled up or stumbly I wouldnt have a problem with it. If rowdyness and rudeness became a problem I would address the issue before the next comp. Drink responsible or dont drink at all. Being unable to walk straight on rocks is not acceptable.

JRH comps drunk all the time! j/k! Like he said, as long as it didn't cause any issues with safety or the family atmosphere, I wouldn't have a prob with a few beers. |

One key thing with drinking at race tracks vs drinking at a comp is that at a race track, safty is a very real concern. At a comp, about the only way you're going to hurt someone else is if you get drunk and fall off a rock onto someone. At a race track, you have very fast, very heavy (sometimes very airborne) vehicles that could hit - well, just about anyone.

Not a good idea IMO. Most of the time the terrain is slippery and someone will always overdo it and make an *** outa himself. Bad image for the club. Having said that, spots that are public- deinetely not a good idea. But if you are out in BFE, different story. If you can be responsible about it, no big deal. |

As long as it is not to over the top. If a few guys want to pop the top off a beer at the end of the comp when everyone is hanging out. I don't see a problem with it.

Being we crawl mostly on State owned land, we don't have a problem with it, since it's not allowed by law. I don't think any of the MNRCRC guys are big drinkers. At any rate, the issue has never come up. But for the record, I'd be against it, unless it was a weekend camping comp, and the drinking took place after the comp, and back at the campsite. I just don't think it would look good to any spectators that my wander by, and we usually have a lot. Smokers are also asked not to leave butts laying around. Here in Mn, good crawling places are hard to come by. It's all about respect for the people/environment you're in. We're there to have a good time, but it isn't a party.

This came up at our last comp. I dont mind it if its in moderation , but our comps are family oriented so that may pose a problem. to sum it up. At parks - No In the middle of nowhere (just the guys) - Yes but there is a line not to cross . Dont get hurt and dont get rowdy (grounds for DQ) |

A lot depends on the location. If it's an out of the way place where it's ok to drink a beer, why not? If it's in a spot where no beer is allowed, then it's not cool. It hasn't really been an issue at our comps. |

Anyone coming to the Jellico W.E.ROCK event to crawl their RC's will find that the park, while private property is an alcohol free zone Now Donner Ski Ranch is just the opposite, although we don't allow glass on the mountian. If anyone gets out of control, they get to deal with me I like to take their alcohol, it comes in handy after the 1:1 comp is done on Sunday Big RIch |

NMRCRC club rules specifically do not allow it during any club sponsored events like comps. For something like a camp over, obviously outside of the actual comp, sure. Even so, I imagine we would not allow someone to be 3 sheets to the wind as it does reflect poorly on the group. I'm glad we haven't had to deal with it yet. |
