Hi, For a long time I've wanted to build a truck which I can throw at the rocks without breaking to much expensive parts because my Hilux is a bit costly for that sort of thrashing. So I ordered a Duratrax CC from Towerhobbies. With one of those reduction codes it was quite cheap. All other parts have been layin' around here already. I didn't change the chassis. I simply stretched the wheelbase to fit the body. To hold the body, I've mounted two aluminium rails to the original body mounts from the CC and attached new body mounts from a Tamiya TL-01 chassis to hold the new body. The wheels are weighted with lead weights. The tires are the old ones from my Hilux. The electrics are very basic. No need to tell you something about them because that would just bore you. The body is an Axial Betty which I've painted with Tamiya Field Gray. I've applied the paint on the outside of the body, so it will get scratches. But now some pics: The flex is enough for what I want to do with it. I don't like those neon yellow springs. Has anyone got an idea of how to remove that paint from the springs? Could I simply sandblast them? -Charles

No, the flex is fine. If it had more flex, the tires would rub against the body. I'll give it a try with the sand blasting. If it doesn't work, I've got a reason for buying new shocks.

Don't know. Haven't tried it yet outside. Maybe I'm able to go for a ride tomorrow. Depending on the weather. Then I will post my experiences.

This morning I went for a spin with the truck. It performed pretty well considering the two motors with only one battery. I also sandblasted the springs. Worked great. But they flip around like hell in the airstream of the sandblaster. So it's pretty hard to hit them. ![]() Now it looks way better than with the yellow springs. I know you guys like pics, so here you go: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() -Charles
