Default A couple of questions about running a single 7.2v battery

Is it possible to run a single 7.2v battery and a regular ESC with the CC?

I have many packs laying around and a Duratrax Streak ESC... Ive read that the stock motors dont like being wired in series.. if i upgrade the stock motors would I be ok with a single pack and the Streak ESC? and would this work ok for crawling?

I dont want to spend $80 on a ESC for a $45 Crawler..

Thanks

It should work. I think when you have the Duratrax ESC is when you have to run 2 batts or make mods. I run a Mahem dual motor ESC with a single battery and do not have trouble crawling ( just has a Y built into the wire harness so like parrallel). What will hurt you most with the Streak is no reverse or drag breaks but I had fun with mine that way before I got the Mahem.

It still has enough power with a regular esc and and single pack?.. I want a cheap rig that can keep up with my friends modded/extended WK.. Should i just forget about a CC and pick up a WK?

no stock motors with single esc on 7.2v is a dog. worst than stock. more like a dead dog
youll need different motors if you want to run 7.2 (as do i)
theres a long thread on our search for that unicorn motor....

Yup, even banebots 390's on 6-cell is pitiful. I've heard they're good for 9+ cell, but I don't have it in me to get a new ESC and battery just to run this cheapo. So mine will be relagated to light scale duty and I'm going back to my TLT for crawling.

I've got a CC as well. I run the Banebots as well with a LRP Quantum Runner and Venom 3000 ma NiMh pack. Mine has a 2" extended chassic with clocked front axle, stock wheels with narrowed Masher 2000's. Its not for competition but it satisifies me with its crawling ability, has decent wheel speed and gets about 45 min run time. I guess it depends upon the ESC used.
