| A new direction
So, I had an idea ... Instead of trying to find 0.6M pinions why not create a new gear? The idea I had was to use a pinion (12T) for the small gear side, and a std 48P spur/pinion (34T) for the large gear side ... an output from a transmission could mate them. Or ... if possible ... machine down the large side and mate the spur to that. Plausible? Last edited by Rockfrog; 10-02-2009 at 07:49 PM. |

| An extra gearbox would be easier....
There is a lot of gear reductions thats fits on the CC with minor modifications and reduces speed and gear ratio to the level it should have been original. I have mounted these 1.7:1 gearboxes from GreatPlane, ordered from TowerHobbies for $9.99 each. Here how they fit as original, screws and hole positions are just bolt on: After I did a new narrower mid sections they fit between the links/shocks: To compare with the 10T discussions these gearboxes would be equivalent to between 6T and 7T pinion gear! And stock motors gives now more than enough torque, with this gearboxes the total ratio are changed from stock 28:1 to 47:1, a 9T would give about 35:1. The GreatPlane gearboxes are available in ratio 1.7:1, 2.4:1 and 3:1. For pure rock crawling, flat out speed is still more than necessary, maybe i will try the 2:4 for even more sneak speed My build thread |
