Default Battery Question

I have 2 normal 6 cell 7.2V batteries (Sub-C). One is 3800mah NiMh and the other in 2000mah NiCd. Can I use them without any harm being done to the ESC?

Sorry for the stupid question. They WILL be temporary untill I get the right batteries. Just wanted to know if I can use them for testing.

Thanks!
