Default newb with a Mamba Max

So I just got a Mamba Max for my crawler and was just wondering if I need to run a BEC I've got a 8 cell split battery pack and Hitec 645 MG.
I plan to purchase a 3s 2100 mah lipo down the way. I know I'll definately need a lipo for that one, anyways where exactly do I hook the BEC into the red wire that plugs into the reciever?

You do not need a BEC for 8 cells nimh or 3s lipo.

I would suggest a BEC with the mamba max period, but especially on 8 cell nimh and above. 3 cell lipo makes the BEC necessary, as just a few amps will overheat the internal BEC as it tries to bleed down the voltage. If you have an extra slot in the RX, just plug the BEC in there and remove the red wire from your ESC RX plug.
