| Crawlmaster 3014 or Cobalt Puller 7T
That is the question. I'm a noob. I'm runnin a tuber with ax-10 running gear, stock gearing a 55t integy and 8cells and Mamba Max. I like the wheelspeed now and lowspeed control. What I would love is the same low speed control and wheelspeed but longer runtime. If that's not possible my next choice is to have the same runtime same lowspeed control but more wheelspeed. I don't want to buy another charger so lipos are out of the question. Will the crawlmaster 3014 sport give me more runtime because it's brushless but still have the same lowspeed control of my setup now and similar wheelspeed? I've read of people pulling the cm to put in pullers for more control. Can I expect the same runtime from a 7t puller but just with more wheelspeed and same low end control? I've searched and read and would like some fresh opinions...seems like it's one or the other as far as low speed control and brushless for runtime....or will the crawlmaster be as good as my current setup for low end control? Thanks, Joe |

From my experience, I'd say the better motor might the 7T puller. I doubt that you will see equal runtime to what you have now but if you geared down a little that would help. You should be able to get the same speed from the 7T as the Crawlmaster, but with lower gearing and that should help runtime but the efficiency of the brushless may negate that. Compared to the 55T you might get close to the same runtime but prolly not the same. Predicting runtime is really tough to do. Power will cost you something. There really isn't a way to get more wheelspeed and more runtime. If your rig goes faster the runtime will go down. Period. An outrunner like the Crawlmaster will extend your runtime a bit because of the lower average amp draw, but it will be at a sacrifice to slow speed control. The crawlmaster with a Sidewinder ESC has great low speed control, but it isn't as good as a brushed motor. If you want more of one thing, you will have to give up something else. |

Alright so brushed is out of the question for me then. I understand that more wheelspeed eats more power and you have to sacrifice something...but at low speeds crawling will they have a similar runtime. I only want to have access to more wheelspeed every once in a while. 95% of my driving is slow crawling..the rest is the occasional hammer down to bump up something. If both motors (55t and 7T) are used for crawling and no full throttle assaults are used will they have the same/similar runtime? Does an electric motor work like that? Or is the draw higher on the 7T all the time through the entire throttle range? Thanks. |

If you keep the vehicle speed constant, any motor will have a similar runtime as the workload is the same. The outrunner will have a slight advantage from the increased efficiency.

Beautiful that's what I wanted to know. So I will have access to more wheelspeed when I need it with 7T compared to the 55t that I have now...just to confirm. Thanks for your time guys |

Yep, the 7t is a faster motor indeed. It has lots of wheelspeed. Did you see the vid I put up? http://holmeshobbies.com/product.php...&cat=17&page=1 |

Lol I hadnt seen that video. Thats nice. Can I ask where is that? Is that a spot where water dripped on a rock for thousands of years or is that man made?

I would expect that a bit more there but I was thinking it was somewhere like Missouri maybe? I am geographically challenged so go easy. Wait JRH is in the Midwest right? Hmm I know I have never seen anything like that here, we have a lot of foul landmarks that look like aliens placed them. Anotomically correct tree's and such...

Okay, so many motors, so few rigs.

When it says "10T" or "7T" etc, is that refering to the number of turns in the motor?

Yes, the 10t is a 10 turn motor. It has 7 slots on the armature so it isn't like a normal 10t.

Thanks for that! Is there a chart or something that I can look to compare a 7 slot armature vs a 3 slot armature? For example a 10t 7 slot is somewhat similar to a 55t 3 slot motor? |

It is about like a 16 turn in winding (7tx7 slot=49 turns/3slot=16), but the stronger magnets slow it down like a 25-30t or so.
