| Which radio are you running? Which is most cost effective?
Well I tried to do everyone a favor and do all my research by searching but all these threads are making my head spin. This is easy, which radio are you running, what do you like about it/dislike about it. What are your post purchase recommendation? That's about it on this end. Your replies are greatly appreciated! Tune everything out and Keep Crawlin'! -Greg

I all depends on how deep your pockets are, alot of people lately are running the new spektrum dx-3r with good results, I personally picked up a discontinued JR R-1 and I really like it, you just have to read the manual 3 times

Well the IRS is about to make my pockets a little bit deeper which is why I am looking at radios but I am not the kind of guy that will spend an extra $100 just because something is the latest and greatest hottness (just look at my closet). But I think that the 2.4 ghz technology is the angle I want to go unless someone wants to convince me otherwise. Oh, currently I am not running rear steer or dig but having the option of that 3rd channel would be nice. |

Nomadio React. 4 channel pistol grip. Unbelievable programming possibilities. Yea, it's a bit weird lookin' and it's a few extra coin, but it's worth it in my book. |

| JR R-1 I have 3 now one for me, my wife and my son....for the price one of the best radios by far. infinite programing possibilities, much better than either the M11 or M8 I have here.

I'm running a JR XS3 I picked up used off ebay for $65 with an RS310 reciever. Never glitches, has three channels, does everything I could possibly want (except have a fourth channel for rear steer and dig at the same time). I'm really happy with it.

thanks for the info everyone. That is a nice price from ultimate hobbies i must say. As for buying stuff on ebay, I have been screwed more times than not so I am a little tentative about that route. But those prices look nice!

I have used to use an Airtronic MX-3. There is a write up on here explaining a cool 3rd channel mod. I switched to a 3PKs and really like it. Not cheap though.

I just got a Futaba 3PM and played with alot of the settings based on a post here for setting up the 3rd channel for rear steer. I haven't run the truck yet but it should work out pretty well. The buttons/switches are in very easy to use locations. I got the radio from Tower $110... here is the post: Setting up Futaba 3PM for 4ws Last edited by rcktpwrd; 01-24-2008 at 05:48 PM. |

DX3R, by far the best radio in my book... Easy as pie to program, I only had to look in the manual once, just to see what all it could do! I do agree that it is a little spendy, considering for $30 bucks more you can get spectrums dx7, which is a stick radio, but with 7 channels and virtually unlimited programming. if your a stick man, get the 7. Pistol guy? get the 3R. |
