Default Adding Cells

Sorry to add a dumb Question but I am a dummy when it come to Electronics.
Is it ok to add Cells to a used pack? I know that they must be the same brand and size and all that.

For example I have a 6 cell elite 1500 saddle pack and I want to make it a 9 cell pack. my 6 cell pack is about 4 months old. Should I just order 9 cells and start over, or is it OK to add 3 more cells?

Thanks

I would get all fresh cells, as the older ones will have completely different performance as compared to the new cells.

But would it harm anything if I just add new cells to older ones?

eventually, yes.

they may have the same mAh sticker rating, but will have completely different discharge rates/voltages/capacities.
