| Mamba 25 troubles
Hey guys need some help here, i recently upgraded all my mambas to the new c.c. software, and so far i've had no problems, but as i was installing the cool bec on my PIMP CANE, and also testing an 8.4v batt, one of the motor/ esc started to act up, it's the front one, if nail the throttle the fron motor will not spin the front wheels, if i ease up the on the throttle it will start up again, i also have noticed a little more stall from the motors than before, i am waiting for the video to load up, lmk your ideas.

Did you reset your throttle endpoints after flashing the new firmware?

I see, it really sucks as i liked how my other super was doing with the new software, same motor/ esc combo, i didn't do this "test" on that other rig, might have to try and see if does it also:-(

epa = atv ? that is the adjustment i have on my radio, also the rates have been adjusted, and the problem is still there:-(, in a lesser degree, it only does it on one of the motors/esc??, on the video you can hear a nosiy motor, that is the rear one, but the one that is stalling is the front one, i don't seem to have any issues when crawling, other than the ocassional noise from the rear motor.

i'm pretty sure that john meant "recalibrate throttle endpoints to the ESC". basically, when you loaded the new firmware you might have overwritten what it knew about your radio (high and low endpoints, middle, deadband) and since those are all things that are adjustable in the new firmware, you might start by retraining your esc's to your radio again. run-of-the-mill radios have a broader deadband and fewer steps of resolution from top to bottom than really pricey radios, so there's the possibility for confusion between the rx and the esc if they aren't on the same page about deadband and hi/lo endpoint. also check motor timing and start power. when you nail it forward the back motor is the one that gets asked to do all the work at first. once the front starts to pull, what you're asking from the back goes way down. recalibrating should straighten out the poor behavior of the front esc. here's what i'd do: 1. change timing on rear esc to one step below the front one. that'll get it into the sweet spot at lower rpm, and may stop phase-locking it. 2. if you're mixing front and rear throttle, use the master channel to calibrate both esc's. that way the atv/epa on your master channel gets written to front and rear. 3. after doing both of these things, try to drive forward on rear esc alone and engage it slowly to see if the motor will stall on high load. all that squealing is very high current bursts from the esc to the motor (that's why the rear esc was hot). since mamba 25's don't have a heatsink, they'll go thermal pretty quick. the magnets in a brushless and the number of segments in JRH motors should mean that you can't stall the armature between phases, but i've had mine seize and squeal by jamming from one end to the other quickly in both my 2.2 and super. good luck. the answer's in there somewhere... Well i tried almost every possible combination on the castle software, the rear motor works fine, it's just the front one that locks up, i gave it less power to the back, and it wouldn't lock up, i drove it with only the rear motor into a bind and it didn't lock up(this is the noisy one), i think it might be the stall is now more pronounced than before, i am using channel 2 with a "Y" for the 2 motors, i never had this issue before,ch 1 and 3 for steering and 4 for dig(not hooked up right now), you can see on the video that even when trying to climb the front motor stalls, whereas the rear does not, i think it might also be the motor going bad:-( |

Have you tried swapping ESCs front to back?

If you are too lazy or have fixed wiring try switching the motors instead.
