| temp for soldering batteries
What is a good temp to solder batteries toghether using battery bars. I've seen 400 and 700 degrees but want to know a ball park idea. My 60w gave out on me and the new one has adj. temp on it. Thanks.,

It's not really the temp as much as how long the iron is on the cell. Hotter with less than 2-3 seconds on the cell is best

It all depends on the size of the cell. For most sub-C applications, I use a 60-watt iron. As far as temp, I'm not really sure. Just make sure you prep each cell properly before assembling, so you don't have to keep the iron on the cell longer than you need to.

Mines a 3/16 or 1/4 inch 700F tip. Exc. resulsts so far. Let it heat up good and wipe the tip with a lightly moistened sponge, get the crap off from previous solder app. My old man used to make engine monitors for his race karts($$$). I learned from him so I figure its a proper method. |
