Default Stadard Speed control+370 motor=?

Hey guys,
Quick question, I have VMG with a reedy mini mod 17 turn. I was wondering if a Stardard speed control is ok to use? The speed control is a mTroniks Viper Max. Thanks in advance!

I have that speed control... No problems... It has no brushed motor limit and will run about everything...

In general though, any standard speed control designed for 1/10th scale cars is going to have no problems running 370 sized motors, which are pretty low draw compared to 540s...

Cool, thank you. I was afraid that it would maybe push to much power through and fry the motor. You have any advice on how to program the speed control? I've tried countless times and no luck.

A speed control does nothing more than vary the voltage going to the motor. The more voltage the motor gets, the more amps it will draw. if the speed control cannot handle the amperage, poof. you really cannot fry the motor with improper speedo. You can fry batteries though, if the batter cannot handle the amperage draw of the motor, you get a dead battery. everything basically revolves around the motor. (ha, get it, revolves. ah I crack my self up)

Ha ha, nice. Thanks guys, I just wanted to make sure. The motor gets very hot in a rather quick manner. Could this be solved by changing the gearing?

Yes, that could definitely help. Gear it with a smaller pinion, larger spur, or both. That will slow you down, but will reduce the 'stress' on the motor.
